Would you go to the dr for this? This is for me, not one of my kids. I rarely go to the dr, and with two kids it's logistically difficult. The sore throat is leaving me paranoid about strep, though realistically I think it's just raw from some post-nasal drip (sorry if that's tmi!). I'm hoping I'll feel better tomorrow.

If the sore throat persists, I'd go to a cvs minute clinic for a strep test.

I would:

Gargle with salt water and gse (alternating)
Neti pot flush daily
Up vitamin D to 10k/day for three days
Up vitamin C
Add zinc for three days
1-2 garlic cloves a day
Two tablespoons of ACV/day

After one week I would be healed! This works! I haven't been sick in years! Literally.

I'm really confused. My plan for dealing with a cold is: tissues. I'm generally done in just one week too.

I'm also confused as to how you have such a detailed plan, if you never get sick and use it. Does having the plan somehow prevent illness?

Strep generally feels like razor blades down the back of your throat and tends to progress pretty quickly. What you describe sounds like an annoying cold, but not strep, but it may be worth a minute clinic visit for the fast strep test.

Yes typically strep and the flu both come on fast -- you go from fine to awful in a matter of hours, BUT strep can present in a lot of weird ways. Honestly I would go to the dr. for this -- strep can get pretty complicated so why not just get the test which will take all of 15 sec and be done with it?

Strep is typically associated with a high fever. The highest fevers my daughter has ever had came with strep.

I'd get a strep test at the minute clinic just to be sure. I once had strep without having any of the classic symptoms.

23:36 here - this is my plan at the first sign of any kind of virus and/or possible bacterial something since I don't know if it's a cold, the flu or strep. I go all out to prevent a full blown episode. I'm a divorced mom of three with an out-of-state ex, so I have zero time to be sick.

On a normal day I just take vitamin D and apple cider vinegar along with a healthy diet.

And even if it's just a cold, who wants to blow their nose raw for an entire week!

Strep throat is not typically associated with cough or runny nose/post nasal drip. OP, you have a cold. Buck up, woman.

I would do nothing. Actually I would skip running and make soup for dinner, but nothing else.

If it were me, I would go to the dr for a strep test. After reading about Jim Henson, I like to be careful about strep.

I had never in my life had strep before, and I got it last winter. I had a soreish throat, but just overall felt Bad. It came on over about 24 hours. I got a strep test at the drs, and the rapid test was negative. But somehow I was certain I had strep. The dr gave me antibiotics. The next day, I could not get out of bed, and I laid around all day and read books (kids were in school, and I stayed home from work). Then the next day, after having antibiotics all day, I felt well enough to go to work. And that morning, my dr called and said that Yes, I did have strep.

DH has had a cough for weeks. No sore throat though - with that I'd get a strep test.
