12.45am That's all from us tonight, Vishal Diksh*t and Karthik Krishnaswamy, who brought you this dead rubber right till the dying moments of this Friday night. Forty-five minutes in Saturday I'm going to head home, and so will MI and LSG. Tomorrow, sorry today is a much more exciting game: RCB vs CSK, almost a knockout (almost because a small win won't be enough for RCB), rain looming large over it, and plenty of rivalry packed in there. For now, it's goodnight and good luck from us all. Ciao!
Pooran is the Player of the Match: Personally, I just had to do my job which is find a way in the situation and finish. Coming into the season I knew what my game would be. I have been inconsistent as well, I'd be fair to myself, so wanted to get some experience and make it count. (His ideal batting number) I batted from Nos. 3 to 7 but if I had to choose, I like the powerplay as well. I can't be selfish and choose. I can bat at any position and that's my strength. I'm just happy that I can do that. I'm just blessed, really grateful to have a second chance to play this game. Eight years ago when I had that accident, I thought I want to enjoy every game and every chance I get. Cricket and sport is really difficult, it takes time. I'm just happy teams are backing me and giving me a chance to play. All the fans of the world who support me as well, I'm just happy I can go out there and entertain. The World Cup is there now, it's back home and we're all looking forward to all playing together and doing something great for the people of Caribbean.
KL Rahul: Very disappointing. At the start of the season, I felt we had a very strong season and most basis covered. Couple of injuries happen to every season and team but the guys who went away dented us a little bit. We didn't play well enough collectively and couldn't come together as much as we wanted to. Today was the kind of game we wanted to play more when the bowlers and batters both come together. Really happy for them (the youngsters), we spent a lot of time and energy with the squad, the support staff and we had sent Mayank and Yudhvir to South Africa to train with Morkel. They got good facilities to train with. (Will he continute to open in T20s?) Maybe, maybe not, there's not much T20 cricket coming up [for me] now. It depends on where I stand and what I need to do to get back in the team, I'll think about what the team needs. (Was Pooran batting too low down the order?) Not really, we'd have ideally wanted him to bat higher but how the teams line up is how the international players slot to absorb the pressure. Once Stoinins was at No. 3, we couldn't have had Pooran after him to have them bat in the 8th or 9th over together.
Sanjiv Goenka is back out there, but this time in a different kind of animated conversation with Rohit Sharma, who is laughing away, along with Amit Mishra. Krunal and Hardik are having a chat together after the TV interviews and mingling with some of the other players and team officials. A lot to reflect on for both teams, both captains and team managements. We'll get you the presentation soon.
Sampath, meanwhile, chimes in: MI finish this auction cycle with a win-loss record of 17-27, the worst record among the ten teams. Nine of those 17 wins came in the 2023 edition alone. They finished bottom of the table in two seasons - in 2022 and 2024 - which they never done before.
Hardik Pandya: Quite difficult, this season we didn't play good quality cricket and it cost us the whole season. It's a professional world, sometimes there'll be good and sometimes bad days. As a group we didn't play quality and smart cricket and it showed in the results. Too early to exactly point out what went wrong tonight. We can pass on this game and look forward to the next season.
Krunal Pandya: It's been a tough season for us, good to end the season with a win. Obviously the aim was to make the knockouts but good to end the season with a high. (On his spectacular save at the boundary) Fielding is more related to fitness, the hard work you put in in off-season reflect on the field and I was able to do it.
12.17am Nearly five hours after this game began, it ends with LSG picking up a consolation win, courtesy a brilliant, 29-ball 75 from Nicholas Pooran and some excellent bowling from their spinners. Rohit Sharma gave his adoring fans something to cheer, and Naman Dhir a glimpse of a serious talent, but another disappointing defeat for Mumbai in a season of disappointing defeats. Vishal will be here with you soon to bring you the post-match reactions.

Naveen-ul-Haq to Naman Dhir, SIX runs
full, wide, six. Terrific finish from Dhir, terrific innings, superb maiden half-century in this format. Lovely, clean hit over extra-cover to bring Mumbai's season, and LSG's season, to an end

•
Naveen-ul-Haq to Naman Dhir, no run
in the blockhole wide outside off, stretches out to try and lap-sweep, can't get bat to it, only his boot. Shepherd looks for the leg bye but Dhir sends him back

1
Naveen-ul-Haq to Shepherd, 1 run
length ball outside off, punched to deep point, brings Dhir back on strike, and why not. This crowd wants to watch him bat

Naveen-ul-Haq to Shepherd, 1 wide
short, angling down leg, can't connect with the hook
Here, belatedly, is Romario Shepherd.

Naveen-ul-Haq to Ishan, OUT
gone, Kishan's scratchy innings comes to an end. Slants a fullish ball well outside off, away from his hitting arc. Slogs, and only manages an inside-edge into his stumps

Naveen-ul-Haq to Naman Dhir, 1 run
six more, or it very nearly was! Krunal Pandya keeps it in, and shuts out Mumbai's hopes, barring extras. Full, in the slot outside off, and Dhir launches it towards long-off, clean and fairly flat. Krunal, falling backwards over the boundary, reaches over his head and palms the ball back into the field of play. They only run one, so Dhir is off strike too

Naveen-ul-Haq to Naman Dhir, SIX runs
there's the fifty. Another lovely hit. This is short outside off, and it gets up to chest height, and he's on the front foot to play another of those baseball hits. Smacks it so cleanly, up and over wide long-on
Right, then. This is all but over, but Dhir is hitting the ball beautifully, and it's still mathematically possible. First up, he's on 49. Naveen-ul-Haq to bowl the last over. Only four fielders outside the circle - deep third, long-off, long-on, deep midwicket. LSG having over-rate issues too.

Mohsin Khan to Ishan, 1 run
another full-toss, but Kishan can't get hold of it. Loses his shape while trying to hit over long-on, and ends up slicing it. On the bounce, down to the fielder
36 off 8. A couple of hits now could make this interesting.

6
Mohsin Khan to Naman Dhir, SIX runs
wow, another outstanding hit. This is shortish, angling away from off stump, and he hits this like a baseballer, weight on his front foot, and a free swing across the ball to launch it over wide long-on

Mohsin Khan to Naman Dhir, SIX runs
full, slanting away from off stump, and that's beautifully timed! Lovely hands from Dhir to slice underneath the ball and carve it up and over the backward point region. Carries all the way too

Mohsin Khan to Ishan, 2 wide
slower ball wide of off stump, left alone, and called wide. Rolls down to the keeper, who fumbles and allows another run

in the blockhole outside off, squeezed out to extra-cover, to the right of the fielder
Fifty-two off 12 balls. Still within the realms of possibility. Here's Mohsin. Left-arm over.

Naveen-ul-Haq to Ishan, FOUR runs
Kishan hasn't had a lot of strike of late, but he finds the boundary here. Steps across to the full-toss angled away from him, and gets down on his back knee to sweep it away to the square leg boundary
Continues from over the wicket to the left-hander.

Naveen-ul-Haq to Naman Dhir, 1 run
shortish slower ball wide of off stump, swiped into the vacant short midwicket region, forcing the bowler to do some fielding

2
Naveen-ul-Haq to Naman Dhir, 2 runs
hip-high hard-length ball angling into the batter, and he steps across and whips it to the right of deep backward square leg. Always wanted two, and convinces a reluctant Kishan to run the second too

4
Naveen-ul-Haq to Naman Dhir, FOUR runs
and Dhir hits it alright. Difficult ball to hit, short, gets up high fairly wide of off stump, but he gets both feet off the ground and hits a tennis-style down-the-line forehand past the bowler, and beats long-on throwing himself to his left
Free-hit.

Naveen-ul-Haq to Naman Dhir, (no ball)
offcutter, shortish, gets up around Dhir's stomach, cramping him on the pull. He's forced to hit from down to up, and he doesn't get much pace onto the bat, and ends up picking out deep square leg, the substitute Prerak Mankad. But just when LSG begin to celebrate, the no-ball klaxxon begins to sound
