Brendan's Emerald Pokemon Diary

SAT Jul. 1, 2006
Petalburg City

Dear Diary,

Today, I moved to Littleroot Town in the Hoenn Region with my mother because my father got a job as a gym leader here. Boy was the first day here interesting.

Our neighbor, Prof. Birch was attacked by a wild Zigzagoon! Thinking quickly, I nabbed the first Pokeball I spotted in the professor's bag and threw it. Out popped the little firebird Torchic which easily disposed of that racoon.

As a thanks, the professor let me keep the Pokemon! So my Pokemon journey began. Shortly after passing through Oldale Town, nothing interesting there, I ran into May, Birch's daughter. We battled with out starting Pokemon and I came through in the end.

After the match, we both headed home and Birch gave me a PokeDex and May gave me 5 Pokeballs. After saying my goodbyes to mom, who gave me the running shoes, I headed west to Petalburg City, where my dad's gym is!

There was another kid there, Wally. We set out to catch a Pokemon so he could return to his home in Verdanturf Town. After that, I went hunting for some Pokemon for myself and caught me a Zigzagoon and Ralts to boot.

I'm also searching for a Seedot, which happens to only have a 1% chance of showing up in Route 102, or anywhere else for that matter, in Emerald. Oh well, I'll just have to search a lot for one. Persistance and patience are virtues in my book.

Well, time for some well-deserved rest for my Pokemon and I in the Petalburg Pokemon Center *YAWN*. Later!

I would get Lotad and Evolve it into Ludicolo.

Anyways, For the BF, I got the Silver Symbol for the Battle Factory.

after battling Juan, i decided to have as my 6th pokemon in the party. i now have a and he's now at lvl 30.

Journal, Day 15 of site search...

Okay, tired of waiting for responses from everyone, let me start off with breeding. I'm pretty sure what natures that I want for 3 of them and breeding moves. Since I don't know how to put on pictures, I'll just right:

Traded a male psyduck w/ Curse from FRLG, attached an everstone to sassy walrein. *3 minutes pass by, 1 egg* Yay, I got a sassy Spheal w/ Curse, Surf, Water Gun, and Growl.

Found a male seviper, high level. *30 mimnutes of battling and levelling up* Oh boy, it has Crunch. *Breeds w/ female sceptile* Oh man, not Timid? BOO! Oh well, *Breeds w/ Ditto, everstone attached* Yay, Timid Sceptile.

This one will be simple. Timid Electrike *Withdraws Timid Ditto, attaches Everstone*. "The two don't seem to like each other." An egg is produced! But alas, its Brave. Try again. Relaxed? Why not Timid? *6 breeds pass with no timid eggs* Oh well, it'll wait until tomorrow.

Im just beat Sidney of the E4, I beat the E4 alot so 1 hit K-O for all his pokemon. Im now training all my pokemon (only caught like 50 somthin...) to 40's each. Then i will go to the safari zone and catch some more pokemon to complete my pokedex to get another starter pokemon from Prof. Birch (maybe a totodile or a cyndaquil, which one you think is the best?)

You already have typhlosion. To get cyndaquil, you could just breed.
You have a water type (quagsire), but lack a grass. Pick Chikorita. Thats my reccomendation anyway. If not, go for totodile.
Plus there are better waters, in my opinion. Walrein (evolve spheal 2x in shoal cave) is a better user of attacks.

I have a shiny Spinda. I ran into it about 9:55 my time a.k.a. minutes ago, while SA EV training my dearest Houndoom. I'm not sure if the Psydex is incorrect with the picture of the no-spotted shiny Spinda, but you can see proof. *gets clear picture after 10 tries*

My friend will have a heart attack. I know it.

Now, I remember some ancient thread that said all shiny Spinda have no spots....oh well. Back to special attack training my Houndoom and Raikou for the tournament in a week. Minor distraction from my EV training.

Oh my gosh, this is amazing!

I hadn't played in a couple days, because I was trying to find Feebas, and it was a drag. I decided I better try to get this over with. So I turned on my DS, fished with the Super Rod one time in the spot I had saved it, and to my surprise, a level 20 male appears. In celebration I killed it.

They remove the spots for confusion purposes only. You see, the creators of the game manipulated the hexadecimal and binary number systems so that every spinda would have different spot locations. This is just an FYI. (I don't remember where I read it, but its a bit humerous).

Just out of curiosity, were you on ev training, shiny hunting, ashes gathering, or a combo?

I was EV training. Ah well, if it was for confusion purposes, then I can understand that. I know about the spot locations and how every one is different. I assumed that it wouldn't have spots. Anyway, it really doesn't matter a whole lot.

Today, I did no training. Instead, I waited in vein for a team rate (a pm would have been okay from any member). While waiting, I cleaned a huge bathroom in my house, as was a chore of mine.

Oh, I found out that in 2 days, lilycove's having a sale! Yay!. I need 3 boards (just in case), and a few more things.

This is my first post in this thread, anyway today I restarted my Emerald. I haven't caught any wild Pokemon yet. I got Mudkip, as my starter, and I already defeated May eaisly, and got the Pokedex, and 5 PokeBalls. I trained my Mudkip so far till Level 10. I think that I've played enough today, and I'll continue tommorw morning, or maybe even tonight!

I just restarted my Ruby, and i've been playing for an hour or so and I just beat Roxanne and I'm going back through the woods to catch a Zigzagoon to teach cut to. After that i'll probably go do the Team Magma thing in the cave and go to the next gym.

Journal, Day 1

Dear Journal,

Today I spent the morning in a rickety moving truck, which was in a ship for most of the time, as it went towards Hoenn. I don't see why we moved to this island anyways, because there were free gyms were we came from, were my dad could have easily became the leader, however, we went to Hoenn anyways, and I had to go to Littleroot in the moving truck, instead of being able to go with my mum in the bus. So, once we got there, my mum brought me into the house, where she insisted I go upstairs and set a clock, that my dad bought me. Yep. A clock. So, when I tried to go downstairs, my mum, with some psychic sense, figured out that I didn't set it, and pushed me back upstairs. So, I set the clock. When I went downstairs, my mum called me over to the TV, where some news station was interviewing my dad. Then, my mun pushed me outside, and told me to introduce myself to dad's friend. So, I went to the house over there, and met May (She kinda creeped me out.) But, Dad's friend wasn't there, so I went to the largest buiding in the town. On the way, I noticed that there were only three houses, and two people didn't have one at all. Very strange.

But, Prof Birch wasn't in his lab either, so I went to the path to the north. I found Prof Birch being chased by a tiny racoon in circles, screaming for help. He yelled at me to take a pokeball from his bag, then drive the thing off. So, I chose the one with the blue tag. It was a ! So, remembering all the movies I've seen with pokemon, I told the Mudkip to tackle the racoon. It fainted. Wow. What a dangerous racoon. So, then Professor Birch thanked me, and pulled me back to his lab, where he gave me the . Nice, huh? Then, he told me to go see his daughter to so I would know about "what being a trainer is like" or something. So I went, and she challenged me to a pokemon duel, and my mudkip wasted her pokemon. So, then, she pulled me to her dad's lab, where her dad gave me a pokedex, and May gave me five pokeballs. So then, they pushed me out of the building, so, I went to my house, and my mum walked up to me and gave me a pair of running shoes. (like I couldn't run in my old pair) So then, I went to Dad's gym in petalburg, fought a few trainers, then my dad told me to help a guy catch a pokemon. I did, and I trained the pokemon I caught too. Mum didn't seem to concerned that I was going to explore the island. Oh well. This is my team so far, after training for an hour or so:

Lets see . . . I just got done beating Norman with ease. After that, I spent time trying to find a . It finally showed and I've gotten it up 2 levels. Will continue until level 35.

Day 2

Dear Journal,

A lot happened since last time I wrote here. Firstly, I went to Rustboro City, after beating a half dozen trainers on the way and helping a Devon dude with a baddie. The first thing I did was go to the gym. Really, all I had to do to beat it is use my 's water gun to OHKO the s, then move on to Roxanne. My Wingull OHKOed her first two s, then put a dent in her , before it was smart enough to stop using moves like block, or tackle, then it used rock-tomb. My fainted. So, I sent out my , who then watergunned it to death (Or to unconciousness, if you don't like that.). So, Roxanne gave me the badge, and a TM. So, I left, and helped that Devon dude again, this time to get some goods back from a Aqua baddie, and helped out an old man get his back. So, once I went back to the city, the Devon dude thanked me, then brought me into the Devon building. So, they ended up asking me for a few favors (delivering a letter and a package of goods), but I got a Pokenav out of it, so it wasn't that bad. I fought may again (wasn't too hard) So, the old man ferried me across the sea to Dewford town, where I gave the letter to this "Steven" person in a dark cave.

Ugh. I don't feel like writing much, so I'll just say that I didn't go to the Dewford gym, and just went straight to Staleport, faced some baddies, who were harassing the person I had to give the good to, then to Mauville, where May battled me, then fought Wally, and beat him (Heck, even May was tougher.), then went inside, and beat the leader. I let my (He evolved), beat his first 3 pokemon, then pulled him out on the , who was very tough, then let my (evolved) faint him with a well placed mud shot. I got the badge. Then did a whole bunch of other stuff, then got to Lavaridge town, beat Flannery, by getting rid of most of them with my and , then calling in the Calvary ({marshtomp}) when I needed it. So, basically, that's all. Now I'm going to go train, then go to Petalburg again, to fight my dad.
